Living in a computer simulation (2015)

The work is a research on the evocative power of the image, on the relationship between simulation and reality, on contemporary phenomena like Instagram and the taste of past photographs.
There are hundreds of filters to move the shots back in time, looking for an artificial nostalgia for the film, its scratches and imperfections. But also effects that declare the synthetic and digital nature of the image, which stratify on the signs that simulate the past.
They are photographs taken for the town of Edolo, a village in the Camonica Valley. I never went to Edolo and I made the reportage by shooting in Google Earth and processing the photos on a smart phone.
The photos were then printed in polaroid format, indeed, in the simulation of the polaroid format offered by online printing services, to close the circle in a path of simulation, space, past and tradition.
